We board our deluxe motorcoach for a journey to the Blue Ridge Mountains for this super-deluxe holiday trip of elegance. Our route leads us across the Carolinas, and into Virginia. Tonight our home is in the historic Roanoke Hotel, built in 1882, and has hosted presidents, millionaires, the Miss Virginia Pageant, and now Lorraine Allen’s distinguished travelers. The building is decorated throughout and is famous for the Fashion of the Evergreens, a multiple Christmas Tree display around the hotel. Welcome Dinner.
No rush today as we make our way into the mountains of West Virginia for an amazing experience of luxury. Your home is in a 5-Star accommodation located in White Sulphur Springs, WV at the world class resort, The Greenbrier. Begin to enjoy the many amenities of this exquisite resort, including culinary demonstrations, tour of the property or slide show, access to the President’s Cottage Museum, afternoon tea, and tonight, a gourmet dinner with orchestra entertainment in the evening. The hotel should be beautiful during this Christmas Season. Be pampered and enjoy it! The Greenbrier has also added their Casino Club. Described as Monte Carlo meets Gone with the Wind, the premier West Virginia casino combines high-roller thrills and high-class style to create an unforgettable Greenbrier gaming experience.
This is your full day to enjoy the amenities and activities of this grand resort. One planned event
that you don’t want to miss is the Bunker Tour. Our group is guided through the top secret Government Relocation Facility that was built under the Greenbrier Resort during the “Cold War” years. Dinner is at your leisure and on your own tonight.
After a fabulous breakfast, we depart and travel to Beckley for a lunch stop at Tamarack, referred to as “The Best of West Virginia.” This large arts-and-crafts facility is run as an economic development project of the West Virginia Parkways Authority, offers food options, and sells West Virginia craft products, such as wood, glass, textiles, pottery, metal, jewelry, as well as specialty food items, fine art, including West Virginia books and recordings out of the mountains from the area. Later, we proceed to Wytheville, VA and check into our hotel before an evening of entertainment at the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre with their wonderful Christmas Show.
Into the Carolinas, we cross the mountains to Asheville for lunch at the Grove Park Park Inn, a heralded resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains. What a way to end such a wonderful and colorful seasonal getaway, as we return home after sampling so many gourmet delights.
